I am an independent insurance broker specializing in individual health insurance for the self employed (as opposed to group policies for large employers). Being an independent broker I represent most of the major health insurance companies, and can help clients find the right insurance at no additional cost. It doesn't cost anymore for me to help you find health insurance, than if you buy straight off the internet, but you get the advantage of my experience. Since I specialize in health insurance I am focused on major medical, accident, disability, dental, and vision policies.
Typically with individual health policies for the self employed, we recommend higher deductible policies, than you find with group insurance. This helps to keep the monthly premium down, and represents a good price/value combination. The unique thing we do at Integra, is to couple these higher deductible health insurance policies with an accident only policy, it is perfect pairing for people with an active Colorado lifestyle. Statistics show that 70-75% of health care claims are because of accidents, not illnesses. So with a health insurance and accident only policy working together, if health expenses are because of an accident, the accident policy would pay virtually all of the out-of-pocket expenses that your health insurance doesn't cover!
